ok so I made this whole website because I am genuinely obsessed with capybaras and I needed somewhere to put all of it. welcome to my corner of the internet.

glad you asked. let me tell you everything.

capybaras are the world's largest rodents and they are from South America. they can weigh up to 140 pounds which is honestly impressive for something that looks like a giant guinea pig.
they are semi aquatic which means they spend a ton of time in water. they have webbed feet and can hold their breath for up to 5 minutes. they can even sleep in water with just their nose sticking out.
but the best thing about capybaras is that literally every other animal loves them. birds sit on them. monkeys hang out with them. even crocodiles just vibe next to them. they are the most universally liked animal on the planet and I think we can all learn from that energy.
things about capybaras that will make you love them even more (if that is even possible)
capybaras have webbed feet and can hold their breath for up to 5 minutes. they basically live in the water.
they can weigh up to 140 pounds. that is a very large rodent and I respect it deeply.
birds, monkeys, rabbits, even crocodiles just chill with capybaras. they are the universal friend.
they eat about 6 to 8 pounds of grass per day. that is their whole thing and they are committed to it.
in Japan they put capybaras in hot spring baths with yuzu fruits. this is the most wholesome thing on earth.
their teeth grow continuously throughout their life. the grass keeps them filed down. nature figured it out.
they can fall asleep in the water with just their nose above the surface. that is the life I want.
baby capybaras are raised by the whole group, not just their parents. it takes a village and capybaras know that.
every week I pick a capybara that deserves recognition. this week it is this absolute legend.

this capybara was photographed absolutely demolishing a watermelon and honestly the energy is unmatched. no hesitation. no shame. just pure commitment to the snack. we should all aspire to this level of dedication.

🐾 real talk though
capybaras are amazing but they are not easy pets. they need a LOT of space, access to water, specialized vet care, and they are social animals so you really should have at least two. please do your research before considering one as a pet. laws also change so always double check with your local wildlife agency.
